MEMORABLE TRIPS

I was fortunate enough to have gone on a treasure-hunting trip in 1980 to the Island of Montserrat. Steve Auerback of"Kellyco Detectors" organized the trip. Besides myself, there were 30 other members from different walks oflife. There was a lawyer, a doctor, policeman, diplomat and a businessman and numerous other professions. We found hundred of old artifacts including a canon and musket balls. Your truly found a moulded one-piece glass bottle, dating to 1700, which I was informed was very valuable. I donated my find to the National Trust of Montserrat, which was the National Museum set up by the resident archaeologist. Most items found were donated to this museum. It was the experience of a lifetime. As you will remember, the island of Montserrat was ripped apart by volcanic activity making it Inhabitable. The camaraderie of the participants on this adventure made it an occasion I will never forget.
